FOOTBALL: Kidlington hit by DeBanks injury

From the Oxford Mail, first published Friday 2nd Feb 2007.

Kidlington youngster Jamie DeBanks could be out for the rest of the season after breaking a leg while on county duty last week.

Debanks suffered a fractured fibula as Oxfordshire Under 18s beat Berks & Bucks 3-1 at Iffley Road last Saturday, and the 17-year-old right-sided midfielder is likely to miss at least the next two months.

Kidlington boss Paul Lee said: "Obviously I wasn't there, because I was with the first team, but I gather it happened in a challenge.

"There was no intent, it was just one of those unfortunate things that happens.

"We'll miss him, because although only 17, he's played nearly all season for us. It's sad for the lad because he's come on leaps and bounds, but he has a very bright future. We certainly won't rush him back."

Michael Butcher will also miss tomorrow's Sport Italia Hellenic League Premier Division trip to Shrivenham after the youngster was carried off with ankle ligament damage in last week's victory over Witney.

Ben Moses (knee) is still sidelined, but Jerry Karpal returns from a hamstring injury.

Ardley United will be without top-scorer Chris Hill and Jason Allen for the trip to Pegasus Juniors as both are unavailable.

Ardley's Oxfordshire Senior Cup quarter-final against Oxford United will be staged at Court Place Farm on Wednesday, February 21 (7.45).

Witney United will look to halt their poor run that threatens to derail their season when they travel to Fairford Town.

They are not helped by a growing injury list as Christian Perkins, Stuart Douglas, Robbie Wyatt and Ritchie Saunders are all out.

Ben Border is unavailable, while Tom Butler starts a two-match suspension.

However, prolific striker Lee Keyes is back in the squad after recovering from an ankle ligament injury.

Bicester Town will be without Teg Jones (broken leg) and Paul Harvey (cut head) when they host basement boys Harrow Hill.

Adam Hamp (hamstring) and Lee Henderson (bruised shin) are doubtful.

Adam Doyle is suspended, as is Jeff Simmonds, for whom youth team keeper Tom McNamara, who played in Tuesday's 3-3 draw at Witney, deputises.

Milton United boss Gary Ackling has a strong squad to choose from as they travel to Shortwood United.

The only injury doubt is Dan Kirby, who picked up an ankle knock against Hounslow last Saturday.

Dave Tasker continues in goal as Gareth Walker has not recovered from a knee problem.

Wantage Town are at full strength for their derby clash with Abingdon Town.

Abingdon striker Garry Hartley joined Wantage last week, and gets a swift opportunity to make his mark against his former side.

AFC Wallingford include new signings Dauda Fofanah and Abi Boatang for their home clash with leaders North Leigh.

Liam Hope returns from suspension for North Leigh, but Simon Futcher begins a two-match ban.

Karl Dodds (hamstring) is doubtful.

In Division 1 West, Clanfield will be without Lee Cook for their tricky trip to Trowbridge Town.

Ashley Johnson, Mark Fitzgerald and Chris Hunt all return to the squad, while Adam Little has re-signed from Devizes Town.
