Fired up for charity trek

Six Abingdon-based soldiers who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan are preparing to face another arduous assignment.

The men with 4 General Support Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps are planning Exercise Blistered Beaver/Challenge. They aim to cycle and run the 90-mile Ridgeway on July 5-6.

The six are staff sergeants Darren Scott and Andy Shoreman, Sgts Nick Woodward, Mark Harley and Steve Davidson and Warrant Officer Paul Folds. Their target is £4,000 for the Army Benevolent Fund, Macmillan Cancer Research and the Kingfisher special needs school in Abingdon.

S Sgt Scott said: "We're setting up a display in the Westgate Centre, Oxford, on June 22 and the next day outside the Tesco store in Abingdon."
