Lock forward Andy Milburn scored two tries as Chinnor lifted themselves off the bottom of the table with a crucial 25-14 victory over Clifton at Kingsey Road.

From the start, Chinnor were intent on consigning the nightmare at Cinderford to the dustbin as they tore into Clifton.

Playing into the breeze, Chinnor took the lead when Milburn forced his way over for his first try, which James Cathcart converted from the touchline.

Chinnor continued to pile on the pressure , and Milburn went over for his second try from a rolling maul, set up by an outstanding tackle from the marauding Tom Johnson.

Clifton replied with a try by scrum-half Ollie Fills, converted by Kent to make it 12-7 at half-time.

Despite losing the influential Simon Matthews to the sinbin, Chinnor increased their lead with a Cathcart penalty and a powerful try from Dave Seymour who ran through tackle after tackle to score under the posts.

A breakaway try by Clifton's Rob Wise, converted by Kent and a final penalty by Cathcart completed the scoring.

Oxford Harlequins, knocked out of the Powergen Cup by Reading, suffered another heavy defeat at the Berkshire club's hands, when they lost 53-24 at Holme Park.

Reading proved too well-drilled for Quins and took a 27-10 half-time lead.

Quins' points came from a brilliant try by centre Martin Nutt, who scythed through the home defence, plus a conversion and penalty by Chris Penney.

In the second half, Reading increased their lead with two converted tries before Quins full back Dave Boreham finished off a fine move with a powerful run to the line.

Penney converted this and a second super try by Nutt, but Reading finished on top, scoring twice more.
