Chinnor's league prospects have taken a dive, followng the depature of lock forward Du Toit Serdyn.
The 21-year-old returned home to South Africa last month to finish his studies, and since then, the club have suffered three narrow defeats to slip into the South West 1 relegation zone.
Du Toit Serdyn, who was christened Arnoldus - "but nobody calls me that" - arrived at the club in February 2001.
"I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Chinnor, and the highlight was winning the county cup," he said. "Even though I broke my nose after only five minutes, it was still a great day for the club."
He has doubts as to whether Chinnor will go any higher in the league structure.
"I don't think they're quite professional enough. I don't mean they should pay players, but I think they should be offering them the odd freebie."
He praised coaches Lynn Evans and John Brodley. "Lynn's got the brains, and John's the ideas," he surmised.
The South African will also be missed by Thame Cricket Club, for whom he bowled fast last summer.
"I had a great time in England, but now it's time to get down and do some work," he said.
